🍹 Passion Fruit Iced Tea Recipe
This recipe makes a delicious and refreshing pitcher, perfect for sharing.
Ingredients
-
1 liter (about 4 cups) of water
-
2-3 black tea bags (or green tea, if you prefer a milder flavor, or orange pekoe for a citrus twist)
-
4-5 fresh passion fruits, or 1/2 cup of concentrated juice/pulp
-
2-4 tablespoons of sugar, honey, or simple syrup (adjust to taste)
-
Plenty of ice
-
Optional for garnish: Fresh mint leaves, orange or lime slices.
Step-by-Step Instructions
-
Brew the Tea:
-
Bring the liter of water to a boil.
-
Pour the boiling water into a pitcher or heat-proof container.
-
Add the tea bags and let them steep for 3 to 5 minutes. Steeping longer may result in a bitter taste.
-
Remove the tea bags.
-
-
Cool:
-
Allow the tea to cool to room temperature.
-
Once lukewarm, refrigerate it for at least 1-2 hours until thoroughly chilled. Alternatively, you can skip this step and use more ice in the next step.
-
-
Add Passion Fruit and Sweeten:
-
If using fresh fruit, slice the passion fruits in half and scoop out the pulp and seeds with a spoon.
-
Add the passion fruit pulp (or concentrated juice) and the sweetener (sugar, honey, or syrup) to the chilled tea.
-
Stir well until the sweetener is completely dissolved. Taste and adjust the sweetness as needed.
-
-
Serve:
-
Serve the iced tea in tall glasses filled with ice cubes.
-
Stir before pouring, as the passion fruit seeds tend to settle at the bottom.
-
Garnish each glass with mint leaves or a slice of citrus, if desired.
-
Enjoy your vibrant and tropical Passion Fruit Iced Tea! 🌴
